Sublimation
Sublimation printing is the application of sublimation ink to the surface of an item using a heat press with specific settings for temperature, time, and pressure.
This combination causes the ink to transform from a solid state into a gas, allowing the item to be printed with a permanent, full-color image. The colors penetrate the surface, resulting in a high-quality, long-lasting print that is resistant to scratching, unlike other printing techniques that only print on the surface of the item.
Sublimation printing is always performed on polyester or surface-treated items. The high temperature causes the dye in solid form to turn into gas without becoming liquid. The high temperature simultaneously opens the pores, allowing the gas to enter. When the temperature decreases, the pores close and the gas solidifies again, becoming part of the item. For these reasons, sublimation cannot be used on materials like 100% cotton. Natural fibers and untreated materials do not have any "pores" to open.
Practical Uses of Sublimation
Promotional Lanyards
- Used for printing of arbitrarily colored raster backgrounds - e.g., images or multicolored patterns, etc.
- More cost-effective than screen printing when ordering sublimation of promotional lanyards (lanyards) in small quantities (approximately up to 500 pieces)
Textile Sublimation
- Printing any design on polyester fabric, or complete production of custom-made textile according to customer patterns (sports jerseys, and any other textiles)
Large-Format Printing
- Sublimation of advertising tarpaulins for scaffolding, banners, flags, etc.
